    Redbox Simulation Team Building Day

On the 1st of August, we enjoyed a brilliant Redbox Simulation Team Building Day at the Anderton Centre in Chorley!

The day was filled with a series of fun activities aimed at strengthening our already close-knit team. We all took part in axe throwing, a leap of faith and raft building. The day was a fantastic opportunity to get away from the office and spend some time outdoors whilst simultaneously honing our skills working together.

Take a look at some of the photos we got below!

  • Success at RedboxVR Innovation Day!

    Success at RedboxVR Innovation Day!

We had a great time yesterday at RedboxVR Innovation Day! The RedboxVR Team got up bright and early and made their way to Meta’s Kings Cross offices.

The event kicked off with some insightful networking with our partners. Then, we got started with the presentations. First, Abiola Ajayi delved into Meta’s ground-breaking products and their impact on the education and aviation industries. Then, our CEO, Simon Fretwell, took to the stage and discussed how he started RedboxVR and the XR solutions that we now offer. Simon then moderated a panel discussion and took some questions from the audience before we opened the room and invited attendees to have a demo.

We’d like to say a big thankyou to all our partners – ManageXR, Uvisan, Metaverse Learning, VirtualSpeech, CampusXR and Moonhub. Also, a huge thankyou to Meta for hosting!

A great Innovation Day all round!

  • Redbox Simulation attend RAF BRAVOS Awards

Redbox Simulation attend RAF BRAVOS Awards

Last Friday, Redbox Simulation attended the RAF BRAVOS Awards at RAF Brize Norton in Carterton.

The BRAVOS are Brize’s Recognition Awards for Valued and Outstanding Service. It’s an annual celebration of the successes and achievements of station personnel across the whole Royal Air Force (RAF). We sponsored the event alongside one of our partners – HTC VIVE.

Serving personnel, civil servants and contractors at RAF Brize Norton were nominated in one of ten categories, highlighting the breadth and diversity of the achievements of personnel at the RAF’s largest base. The event recognises those whose commitment and devotion make a difference to the Station and the wider community. The nominees were put forward by their colleagues and members of the community, and all have made an outstanding contribution to RAF Brize Norton.

Sergeant Lloyd Reade was the winner of The Astra Award. Recognising a need for greater efficiency in data reporting, Sgt Reade took the initiative to develop a newly configured stats reporting system. The system captures critical information, such as freight/passenger weight for specific operations and allows users to quickly and easily interrogate the data with just a click of a button.

    A fantastic night!

  • Redbox Simulation at IT²EC!

    Redbox Simulation at IT²EC!

Redbox Simulation are currently at IT²EC alongside our partner, HTC VIVE. IT²EC, taking place in the ExCeL exhibition and convention centre, is Europe’s premier forum for the military, civil sector, industry, and academia representatives to converge and exchange insights on simulation, training, and education.

Located on Stand B32, we’re showcasing our custom solutions, including our multi-user HTC VIVE Focus 3 Kits and an immersive flight simulator designed specifically for use in training the next generation of aviators. Empowered by immersive technologies, Redbox Simulation & HTC VIVE have joined forces to provide bespoke solutions to the defence sector at large.

However, it’s not all work and no play. We’ve also made sure to take a look around at what other companies in the space are currently doing. One such company is FLAIM Systems, a business from Australia who offer VR-based learning solutions for training in hazardous and emergency situations. In our gallery at the bottom of this post, you can watch our CEO, Simon Fretwell, having a blast using FLAIM’s firefighting training experience!

Another interesting presence at the show was SenseGlove who create a haptic glove that allows the user to hold, push, touch, connect and squeeze virtual objects like they’re real. SenseGlove develops these force and haptic feedback gloves to enable professionals to feel virtual objects and interact with them more efficiently for VR training and research purposes.

  • Redbox Simulation has collaborated with RAF Air Cadets!

Redbox Simulation has collaborated with RAF Air Cadets!

Redbox Simulation has recently collaborated with RAF Air Cadets to showcase the transformative potential of Virtual Reality in training the next generation of the Royal Air Force. Our collaboration has marked a significant milestone in bridging the gap between traditional training methods and cutting-edge immersive experiences.

At the heart of this collaboration was a captivating demonstration held at the Air Cadets’ training facility, where we unveiled the immersive capabilities of VR technology. Powered by Spawnpoint, our interactive VR demonstration aimed to immerse cadets in a realistic shooter, offering a glimpse into the future of immersive training.

The event wasn’t just about showcasing the latest hardware and software; it was about igniting curiosity and inspiring the next generation of RAF recruits. By exposing cadets to VR technology, we aimed to cultivate a deeper understanding of its applications in enhancing training effectiveness and efficiency. From refining decision-making skills to fostering teamwork and situational awareness, VR presents boundless possibilities for preparing cadets for the challenges of tomorrow’s airspace.

The success of our collaboration with the RAF Air Cadets underscores the transformative potential of VR in training and education. Beyond the confines of traditional classrooms, VR opens doors to immersive learning experiences that transcend boundaries and stimulate engagement. Whether it’s mastering complex manoeuvres or honing leadership qualities, VR empowers cadets to push their limits and unlock their full potential.
